The name Tatiana Maslany may not be immediately recognizable to most, but for some it conjures pictures of pure female badassery. The actress is currently nailing it on the BBC series “Orphan Black”, and she’d likely be headed to superstardom with her next potential role, that of Sarah Connor in THE TERMINATOR reboot (aka TERMINATOR 5).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maslany is the latest actress to audition for the iconic part of Sarah, joining the previously reported Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) and Brie Larson (“21 Jump Street”). Director Alan Taylor and star Arnold Schwarzenegger are evidently intent on casting the role of Sarah Connor before any of the leading men, so the search is on and then some for the new incarnation of the character, made famous by Linda Hamilton.

Is Maslany their pick? Remains to be seen, but the Canadian actress is nearing “next big thing” status and definitely conveys a believable toughness, so it’s an intriguing possibility.

THE TERMINATOR 5 (or whatever it will be called) is set for release July 1, 2015.
