AMERICAN HORROR STORY has been quite the success and proves that a legitimate horror series can thrive on the small-screen. With many of the series vets already set to return for season 3, it’s always nice to see a new name land a role in the popular television show. According to TV Line, that new name belongs to horror favorite Kathy Bates (MISERY) as she will join the series as a nemesis to Jessica Lange’s character. And what a nemesis she will be. The scene from MISERY with the sledge hammer has been burned into my memory from an early age so evertime I see Kathy Bates I cringe. She is no doubt going to be a great addition to the cast because she is disturbingly good at playing an evil bat-shit crazy character.

Her character, “will play the best friend of Lange’s new character, who turns into her enemy.”

Creator Ryan Murphy has said that the upcoming season will by heavy on the female roles so seeing Bates join the cast certainly keeps with his word. She will be starring alongside Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga. It has been said that Season 3 will be more female centric and will have a love story in its dark, black and likely stunningly random, heart.
