Last we heard Lionsgate was pushing Scott Derrickson’s upcoming SINISTER back one week, which we speculated was to avoid the theatrical clutter of TAKEN 2, FRANKENWEENIE, and the limited release of V/H/S. To keep us stoked in the face of delay, the studio has released yet another TV spot to tide us over.

This film is, without a doubt, my most anticipated October release. As much as I look forward to Liam Neeson snapping necks and taking names in TAKEN 2, the month just isn’t a good time for action films. With PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 looking like old hat and V/H/S already out of the on-demand bag, SINISTER is taking the lead as the film to see this Halloween season (at least for me, anyway).

SINISTER stars Ethan Hawk, Vincent D’Onofrio, Fred Dalton, James Ransome, and Juliet Rylance. It hits theaters October 12th (not the 5th) and I suggest you check out the spot and synopsis below as a reminder to save the date.

Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.
