I’m always down for a David Cronenberg-esque thriller, especially when the thing is about a twisted STD! That just screams a good time.
Alright, sarcasm aside I am in fact here to tell you all about a twisted new genre flick coming our way that definitely has a Cronenberg-feel to it. The flick I’m getting at is something called CONTRACTED and according to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting up-and-coming genre director Eric England has been tapped to take the reigns on this one. Not only did England (right) pen the script for CONTRACTED but he’ll be directing as well. Check out the basic rundown for this one:
A young girl has a one night stand with a random stranger and contracts what she thinks is an STD… but is actually something much worse.
Sounds like fun to me! CONTRACTED is coming at us courtesy of a collaboration with the new production company BoulderLight Pictures, co-founded by JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, and Southern Fried Films. England even had a little to say about the project:
“This is a step in a different and exciting direction for me. Contracted is a much different subject matter than what I’m used to taking on. It’s intimate and personal and has a lot to say about sexuality and promiscuity. If all goes right, I hope this film will do for hooking up with random strangers, what Jaws did for going to the beach.”
Dammit. I hope not man! There is absolutely no harm in hooking up with random strangers! It’s the way of the world.
CONTRACTED is set to start filming on May 13 in Los Angeles so expect more on this one soon.
