Did you know David Cronenberg has a filmmaking son named Brandon? Kind of makes you feel old, doesn’t it?!?

Well, according to Variety, this Brandon Cronenberg fella is set to helm a new disease-based thriller called ANTIVIRAL for Rhombus Media. Word is Caleb Landry Jones (“Friday Night Lights”, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) will headline.

With filming set to commence next month in Toronto, ANTIVIRAL revolves around a salesmen, played by Jones, for a clinic that has begun replicating celebrity diseases for public consumption. He becomes obsessed with a certain celebrity and injects himself with her disease then must figure out how to cure it before time runs out.

ANTIVIRAL will mark Cronenberg’s feature debut, behind a pair of shorts (BROKEN TULIPS, THE CAMERA AND CHRISTOPHER MERK).

Landry Jones on the other hand, has impressed quite a bit since playing the bike riding boy at the end of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. He appeared in THE LAST EXORCISM, and has SUMMER’S SONG, CONTRABAND and BYZANTIUM all due out soon. Hell, the kid’s also mixed it up with Cranston on “Breaking Bad.”
