Eli Roth’s Hostel is the next maze at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

First THE THING remake and now HOSTEL? Man Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights are really going to hell, aren’t they? What started as a badass set of old school genre mazes like FRIDAY THE 13TH and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET has quickly turned into… something else. Wasn’t it just last year SAW was getting introduced to the mix and now these two? I suppose you’ve got to stick with the times, right?

Don’t get me wrong… THE THING maze actually sounds like something pretty sick and a HOSTEL maze definitely has potential. But I’m getting ahead of myself here. You see today Universal Studios announced that HOSTEL will indeed be the inspiration for their newest maze: Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season! Scope out the details on this bad larry:

“Hostel: Hunting Season,” for which Universal will build elaborate sets re-creating locations in Slovakia, will mark the horror auteur and star’s first effort at transforming his screen work into a live theme park experience. The maze will re-imagine the film’s dehumanizing torture chambers and send guests on a spiraling journey through the corrupt halls of Elite Hunting’s torture factory. Elite Hunting, a secret society that tortures and kills American youth for sport in exchange for large sums of money, will prowl the factory and prey on its many maze visitors.

Now Roth will be collaborating with Universal on the maze and even has plans to possibly appear in it himself as a torturer! Check out a bit more of what the filmmaker had to say about the deal: “I am so happy to join forces with the creative team at Universal. Our collaborative vision to bring ‘Hostel’ to life will give both fans of my movie and horror fans a scare they could never have imagined. People will have a chance to experience some exact moments from their favorite ‘Hostel’ scenes, along with some new surprises.”

So what do you guys think? This HOSTEL maze sound like something you’ll want to check out? Halloween Horror Nights is set to run on select nights from September 23rd to October 31 so you can expect more updates on the event soon.
