Those wacky Sci Fi Wire dudes are at it again with an update to director Mark Steven Johnson’s THE PREACHER project, which bro Scott touched on here.
Turns out that Johnson has completed the first draft for the HBO pilot, which is based on the DC/Vertigo Comics’ character. The draft, written by Garth Ennis (who in my opinion should have written Johnson’s upcoming project, GHOST RIDER), is taken pretty much from the books themselves, with an issue being a one-hour show.
With regards to Johnson’s recent decisions to becoming involved with comic characters who aren’t exactly known for their happy sides, Johnson replied that he himself isn’t a dark type of person, he just likes dark characters. “I like the underdogs. I like the guys who aren’t Superman, who bullets bounce off his eyes or who can spin back the world and reverse time.”
I can relate to that. I mean, not everyone wants the knight in shining armour all the time with the good looks and the seemingly unstoppable powers. Think Batman or Spawn. Anyhoo, to read the rest of the interview, head on over here.
