Further proof that Hollywood has run out of ideas (and close to running out of stuff to remake), MGM announced today that the next film on the fasttrack to remakeville is Kevin Connor’s 1980 slasher parody MOTEL HELL, which is set to be in theatres by December 7th.
Now while I never saw the original (I’m a deprived college student on placement, I know…), you really have to wonder how desperate studios are getting when they go out of their way to remake an obscure film like this. I mean, what next, PROM NIGHT? Oh, wait…
For those in need of a refresher, the original MOTEL HELL starred Rory Calhoun as Farmer Vincent, who kidnaps unsuspecting travelers and buries them in his garden to be force fed for the farmer’s roadside stand. No word on any crew or casting as of yet, so stay tuned.
