According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is back to snatching up indie genre films with their acquisition of TENDERNESS, starring everyone’s favorite fighting Kiwi (that’s New Zealand, in case you’re wondering), Russell Crowe.
Written by Emil Stern and based on the novel by Robert Cormier, TENDERNESS also stars Laura Dern, Jon Foster and Sophie Traub, and is directed by Aussie John Polson. The film centres on a teen (Traub) who becomes enthralled with a serial killer (Foster). Crowe will play a local cop who has been following said killer for years after they murdered his family. Currently in postproduction, Lionsgate plans to release the film late next year.
I couldn’t resist.
