Interview: Zac Efron and Ryan Kiera Armstrong Talk Firestarter

It’s been decades since we were introduced to a young girl who could start fires. Back in 1984, Drew Barrymore took on the bad guys and become a deadly weapon herself (check out our recent WTF episode on it). This time around, the talented Ryan Kiera Armstrong brings the heat. Replacing David Keith as the father is Zac Efron. The remake, directed by Keith Thomas, also features Gloria Rueben, Kurtwood Smith, Sydney Lemmon, and Michael Greyeyes. And this Friday, you can check out the latest Stephen King adaptation in theatres and on Peacock. The flames are rising and the action is heading your way.

Last week, I had the chance to chat with the film’s stars, Zac Efron and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Having met Mr. Efron years ago, it was terrific to speak to him about his latest. He opened up about playing a father, but one that is dealing with unimaginable horrors. It’s hard enough being a parent, imagine having your child randomly starting fires if they don’t get their way. And speaking of starting fires, Ryan opened up about taking on such a challenging role and working closely with her on-screen dad. The two were terrific to speak with, and here’s hoping that you all enjoy another Stephen King cinematic adaption.
