UPDATE: Shortly after the teaser trailer for Hulu’s Prey was revealed, the streamer sent out a press release previewing all of their original movies for the summer. Buried within the details was confirmation that Prey will indeed be rated-R, so if fans were worried that a streaming debut might result in a watered-down Predator film, you can rest assured – it (hopefully) won’t be.

ORIGINAL POST: A teaser trailer for Hulu’s Prey has been released and it gives us an exciting first look at the newest entry of the Predator franchise from director Dan Trachtenberg. Not much is known yet about this prequel to the Predator series, but the release of the official synopsis plus the short teaser gives us a little more to go on.

Per the film’s official synopsis, “Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”

According to 20th Century Studios, “The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. Myers, an acclaimed filmmaker, Sundance Fellow and member of the Comanche nation herself, is known for her attention and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations and her passion for honoring the legacies of the Native communities.”

Prey stars The Ice Road‘s Amber Midthunder and will stream on August 5, 2022, exclusively on Hulu in the U.S, and Disney+ Star internationally.
