Three weeks ago, Netflix released a teaser trailer for Bird Box Barcelona – which is set in the world of their apocalyptic horror thriller Bird Box. A full trailer is expected to arrive online tomorrow, but in the build-up to that Netflix has also unveiled a new poster for the film, and you can check that out at the bottom of this article. It comes with the warning to “Fear the Ones Who See”.

Bird Box Barcelona is scheduled to be released through the Netflix streaming service on July 14th.

Georgina Campbell of Barbarian stars in Bird Box Barcelona alongside Mario Casas, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, Patrick Criado, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia.

Written and directed by Alex and David Pastor, the film has the following synopsis: From the producers of the global phenomenon, Bird Box, comes Bird Box Barcelona, an expansion of the film that riveted audiences in 2018. After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.

The first Bird Box was based on a novel by Josh Malerman (pick up a copy HERE). Malerman produced Bird Box Barcelona with Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, and Ryan Lewis. Ainsley Davies and Brian Williams serve as executive producers.

If you’re curious about the Bird Box timeline, Clark told Entertainment Weekly: “The events that we see Malorie/Sandra Bullock endure in the original Bird Box are happening at the same time that Sebastian/Mario Casas is going through his journey. Being in Barcelona gave us a chance to see how surviving this intense threat in an iconic city poses different challenges.

Malerman has written a Bird Box sequel called Malorie (buy that one HERE), but Netflix is currently focusing on the idea of producing Bird Box spin-offs that will be set in various locations around the globe instead of making an adaptation of Malorie.
