After making audiences swoon as Dean Di Laurentis, the fan-favorite defenceman for the Briar University ice hockey team in Prime Video’s hit series Off Campus, actor Stephen Kalyn has officially joined the cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming feature film The Housemaid’s Secret.
Kalyn is set to play the role of Brock, joining a star-studded ensemble that includes Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, and Paul Anthony Kelly. Michele Morrone will also reprise his role as Enzo from the original film. Director Paul Feig returns to helm the sequel, working from a screenplay adaptation that promises to lean even deeper into the twist-filled, high-stakes suspense that readers have come to expect from author Freida McFadden‘s wildly popular book series.
Stephen Kalyn’s Rising Star
Before landing his breakout role in Off Campus, Kalyn steadily built up an impressive résumé across film and television. He previously appeared as Greg in Amazon’s superhero spin-off Gen V, starred alongside Dafne Keen in Corin Hardy’s horror feature Whistle, and landed guest and recurring roles on notable series such as Transplant, Murdoch Mysteries, Essex County, Law & Order: Toronto: Criminal Intent, and Motorheads.
Continuing a $400 Million Franchise
The Housemaid’s Secret serves as the direct sequel to last year’s erotic psychological thriller The Housemaid (read our review here), based on McFadden’s bestselling 2022 novel of the same name. While critics and audiences held differing opinions regarding the original film’s quality (read our full review here), there was no debating its massive box-office dominance. The movie became a runaway commercial hit for Lionsgate, grossing over $400 million worldwide against a modest $35 million production budget.
The original film followed Millie Calloway (Sweeney), a struggling ex-convict on probation who lands a live-in housekeeper position at a sprawling Long Island mansion owned by wealthy socialite Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried) and her tech-bro husband, Andrew (Brandon Sklenar).
