Nick Groff is one of the most respected names in television and beyond when it comes to the paranormal. He has had incredible experiences in some of the most haunted locations in the world. As a friend to Arrow in the Head, we’ve shared some very exciting experiences with Nick including a couple of wild and spooky moments that we’ve managed to capture on camera. Thus, we’ve decided to work with the television host and producer extraordinaire so he can share his knowledge and insight on all things that go bump in the night. With this bi-monthly column, we plan to delve into everything from urban legends to ghostly apparitions, to his take on some of the coolest genre flicks ever. This is Nick Groff Investigates…!

One of my favorite films is the atmospheric and chilling noir nightmare ANGEL HEART. Directed by Alan Parker, and featuring Mickey Rourke, Lisa Bonet, Charlotte Rampling, and Robert De Niro, this freaky flick certainly played an important role in my "knowledge" of what it must be like to visit New Orleans. While it wasn't the only film that took place in that magical city that had an impact on me – THE BIG EASY is one of the coolest flicks I've had the pleasure of witnessing – but the horrific elements of this twisted thriller stood out. With that and a few Anne Rice novels, my little mind decided that this must be one of the creepiest cities in the United States. Well, perhaps I was right on that.

Since then I've had the opportunity to visit this iconic place. And yes, the creepy cemeteries and the rich history connected to my imagination of what it must be like to walk Bourbon Street as the city streets came to life. It was alive with great music and this incredible energy that takes you in. It's a magical place, one with a very haunted past. Thus, when Nick and I were discussing this week's column, one location stood out for Mr. Groff. It's a place that Nick spent a healthy amount of time investigating, the Rampart Street Murder House. If you'd like to hear about a messed up love story that turned very dark, you can read a little bit about that here from The LineUp online.

If you ever have the opportunity to check out this spooky location, I highly recommend it. While I didn't spend the time that Nick did, it was enough to whet my appetite for a little ghostly goodness. After spending 72 hours in the home, Nick has a few things to say about his experiences there. The city of New Orleans is a fascinating place for several reasons. They've had natural disasters, mysterious murders, and a few other nefarious tales – when I was there I noticed spilled blood on the sidewalk near my hotel. Do you have any tales from your time there? Was it at the Murder House? Or did you feel a presence while walking throughout the above-ground cemeteries? Either way, we'd love to hear what you have to say about this historic and haunted American city.

New Orleans has an energy about it like no other. Having spent time through the years investigating various locations in NOLA I feel the energy changes over time based on emotions and tragedy that have occurred there. There’s an atmosphere about NOLA that I love to explore.

One of the most fascinating locations was the Rampart Street Murder House! My good friend Bloody Mary now runs her haunted museum on the bottom floor. I investigated and stayed in the location for 72hrs. I learned a lot about its history. A tragic story but now remembered through spiritual means. Bloody Mary is doing an incredible job with the location and communication with the spirits there. Please help support her museum and go visit.

The emotions are still there inhabiting the building. Energy can’t be destroyed. The memories of the people that once lived will live on through the history, still being preserved at the location. So many experiences to share with my time in NOLA and more to explore. The journey never ends as there’s so much to learn and grow as an investigator.
