Cool Horror Videos: Jason Voorhees stars in ‘wear a mask’ PSA

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

There has been a lot of debate over whether or not people should be required to wear PPE masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now someone who has been advocating mask-wearing since 1981 has just joined the discussion. In a PSA video, which you can watch above, slasher icon Jason Voorhees returns to New York to advise residents to wear their masks.

Fans of the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise could find a lot of things to nitpick in this video – how funny the actor's beard looks sticking out from under the hockey mask, the jumpsuit, the reference to the popular misconception that Jason uses a chainsaw (he hasn't, ever), the fact that the silent slasher narrates the video, etc… but even if the details are all wrong, it's a fun video that aims to provide some chuckles while delivering a message.

As we reported last month, Tom Savini and fellow effects artist Jason Baker have teamed up to create PPE masks made to look like the bottom half of Jason Voorhees' hockey mask, so this PSA isn't the only time we've seen F13 and health precautions collide during this pandemic.
