A Is for Alien: An ABC Book will teach children about the xenomorph

20th Century Studios and Little Golden Books have teamed up for A Is for Alien, an ABC book aimed at kids between the ages of 2 and 5

The Alien franchise has been expanded with a lot of books over the years, but none of them have been aimed at an audience as young as the one the upcoming book A Is for Alien: An ABC Book is hoping to reach. This book – which is set to reach store shelves on July 9th and is available for pre-order at THIS LINK – is meant for kids in the 2 to 5 age range, as it’s out to teach them their ABCs with the help of the xenomorph.

Coming our way from 20th Century Studios and Little Golden Books, A Is for Alien has the following description: In space no one can hear you giggle as you read this Little Golden Book featuring the characters from the classic movie Alien! Follow Ripley and the rest of the Nostromo crew on a space adventure that introduces the alphabet from A to Z. With fun illustrations, this light-hearted reimagining of the iconic movie Alien will delight fans young and old, as well as Little Golden Book collectors throughout the universe. Since 1979, Alien has been an iconic franchise that has thrilled viewers around the world.

As mentioned, the original Alien was released in 1979. Directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Dan O’Bannon (who crafted the story with Ronald Shusett) – with uncredited rewrites from producers Walter Hill and David Giler – the film had the following synopsis: In deep space, the crew of the commercial starship Nostromo is awakened from their cryo-sleep capsules halfway through their journey home to investigate a distress call from an alien vessel. The terror begins when the crew encounters a nest of eggs inside the alien ship. An organism from inside an egg leaps out and attaches itself to one of the crew, causing him to fall into a coma.

Sigourney Weaver played heroine Ripley and was joined in the cast by Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright, Yaphet Kotto, Harry Dean Stanton, and Ian Holm.

Alien has been followed by Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, and many books, comic books, video games, etc. Next year will see the release of a new Alien film directed by Fede Alvarez, and a TV series created by Noah Hawley will follow in 2025.
