A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Revisited – Horror Movie Review

A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and in this one we’re taking a look at one of the most popular slasher movies ever made, writer/director Wes Craven’s 1984 classic A Nightmare on Elm Street (watch it HERE)! To see the original Elm Street get the Real Slashers treatment, check out the video embedded above.

In A Nightmare on Elm Street,

several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger, a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams — which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends’ parents may be the key to unraveling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen solve the puzzle before it’s too late?

The film stars Heather Langenkamp, Johnny Depp, Amanda Wyss, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, and Nick Corri, with Robert Englund as the iconic Freddy Krueger.

Here’s what Real Slashers is all about:

Ahhh the 80’s. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the boobies swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we’re looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we’re looking at “Real Slashers.”

The show is Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

Is the original Elm Street your favorite entry in the franchise, or do you prefer one of the sequels? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
