Adam Savage built a real-life Iron Man suit which actually flies

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I'd say most of us have fantasied about being Iron Man at some point in our lives. A brilliant billionaire with a high-tech flying suit; what's not to like? Well, if anyone was going to build a real-life Iron Man suit, it'd be Adam Savage. The former Mythbusters star has returned with Savage Builds, a new Discovery series with a focus on extreme engineering, and the first episode of the series finds Savage building a 3D-printed titanium real-life Iron Man suit which also happens to be bullet-proof.

With the help of Gravity Industries, Savage is able to use several 1,000-horsepower mini jet-engines to give his suit the ability of flight. Sure, it may be loud and hot as hell, but as Savage notes in the above video, it's also quite magical. As you can see, learning to use these engines isn't the easiest thing in the world, so Gravity Industries founder Richard Browning was the one to suit up in Savage's Iron Man at the end of the day. Where can I sign up?
