Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins Suicide Squad as Batman villain Killer Croc

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In a surprising late addition to the growing cast of SUICIDE SQUAD, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje will join as Batman villain Killer Croc. The Wrap cites sources but both the studio and representatives for the actor have declined to comment. If this turns out to be legit, Killer Croc will represent the least human character to date in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe.

Akinnouye-Agjabe is no stranger to comic book films having played a Dark Elf in THOR: THE DARK WORLD. The actor is best known for his roles on HBO's Oz and the ABC hit series Lost. He joins the large cast that also includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, and Jay Hernandez. Rumors abound that Jesse Eisenberg will play Lex Luthor but that has yet to be confirmed.

Various versions of Killer Croc have ranged from a disease that gives the appearance of scales to a more anthropomorphized lizard creature. The true identity of Killer Croc remains consistent as being Waylon Jones and has primarily appeared in Batman comics. I think this brings an imposing, Groot/Hulk presence to the team but I was still hoping the animal-man in SUICIDE SQUAD would be King Shark.

SUICIDE SQUAD is slated to open on August 5, 2016.
