Netflix dropped the first teaser poster for the much-anticipated Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F yesterday, and now we’ve got our first look at Eddie Murphy back in action in the first teaser trailer for the Netflix movie.

Nearly thirty years after the release of the last movie, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will find Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) back on the beat in Beverly Hills. The official synopsis reads: “After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.” The film also stars Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon. Mark Molloy directed the Beverly Hills Cop sequel from a screenplay by Will Beall and Tom Gormican & Kevin Etten.

Eddie’s such an incredible artist,” said producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “He can do drama, he can do comedy – he can do anything. And he’s the same Axel Foley. He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously with age you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye.” Mark Molloy added, “Some of the funniest moments in Axel F are when Eddie’s doing improvising. For me, a big part of my job was to create the right environment [and] cast the right people around Eddie to allow him to do what he does best.

Given the bad taste that Beverly Hills Cop 3 left in the mouths of fans three decades ago, I can only hope that Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will be a welcome return to form. Considering the amount of time which has passed since Eddie Murphy last suited up as Axel Foley, it’s no surprise that he can’t handle the action as well as he used to. “When I was on the set, we kept having that experience,” Murphy explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “There was a scene where they wanted me to run down these steps; it was outside, these cement steps. After I did it, the director said, ‘Can you come down faster with more of a sense of urgency?’ And I was like, ‘No, I can’t!’ I had to tell everybody, ‘Listen, I know I still look like Axel Foley but don’t ask me to do nothin’ you won’t ask Morgan Freeman to do.’
