On April 17th, Vertical will be giving the action thriller Brothers Under Fire an On Demand and limited theatrical release – and with that release just three weeks away, a trailer has dropped online! You can check it out in the embed above.
Cast and Synopsis
Formerly known as Sierra Madre, Brothers Under Fire was directed by Justin Chadwick, whose previous credits include The Other Boleyn Girl and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, from a screenplay by first-timer Delbert Hancock and Ian Mackenzie Jeffers, who worked on James Wan’s Death Sentence and Joe Carnahan’s The Grey (which was based on his short story Ghost Walker).
Kiefer Sutherland (24) leads the cast, and the film has the following synopsis: Captain Jordan Wright (Kiefer Sutherland) and his squadron are on leave for the wedding of one of their own in Mexico. The celebration is interrupted by a murderous cartel, with tragic consequences. As Jordan leads survivors to safety, war erupts between his squad and the cartel, forcing him into a battle to save his men.
Also in the cast are Omar Chaparro (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu), Laura Osma (The Whisper of Silence), Tommy Martinez (Bosch: Legacy), Solly McLeod (The Rising), Orlando Pineda (Griselda), and Laird Akeo (Paradise City), with Ashton Sanders (Moonlight).
Producers
The film was produced by James Keach, Robert Stein, Griff Furst, and Nik Bower. Something that really caught my attention is that Keach also crafted the story with Trevor Albert, the producer of such films as Groundhog Day, Multiplicity, and Bedazzled.
Keach has primarily worked as an actor, with more than 60 credits to his name, and has produced and directed more than 30 projects, but he only has four previous writing credits: the 1975 horror movie Slashed Dreams (a.k.a. Sunburst), the 1980 Western The Long Riders, the 1986 action comedy Armed and Dangerous, and the 1989 thriller The Forgotten. It’s good to see him adding another credit to the list after so many years.
