Capcom reaches LA

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

With RESIDENT EVIL already making the jump, and with STREET FIGHTER (again) and ONIMUSHA preparing to take the plunge into Hollywood, it seems Capcom isn’t sitting around waiting for the next offer to come along.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the Japanese video game giant has hired Germaine Gioia to serve in the newly created post of senior vp licensing in its Los Angeles office. She will liaison with Hollywood to find properties that can work as games for Capcom. The idea behind all this is for Capcom to make the proverbial door for Hollywood to talk to game companies that much more accessible.

Looks as though Capcom are doing what SquareEnix tried to do and failed with FINAL FANTASY: THE SPIRITS WITHIN in some ways (though we all know what happened to Square’s film branch after the release of the film). Ah well, as long as it gets DEVIL MAY CRY one step closer to hitting the big screen, I’m all for it!
