Perspective is everything. The way you see the world is determined greatly by where you're standing. For example how I perceive global events is going to vary vastly from how an affluent child living in India views the world. However, despite our cultural differences the great equalizer is physical perspective. I guarantee you that how you perceive the world shift dramatically if you go from the top of a painting ladder to the top of the Cliffs of Moher. But have you ever wondered how your perspective might differ if you saw the horizon atop the Tower of Orthanc in THE LORD OF THE RINGS or The Great Pyramid of Meereen from Game of Thrones? Well ponder no further as the geniuses over at MetaBallStudios have got you covered.

In the incredibly detailed and comprehensive video above, MetalBallStudios takes its viewers on a tour of some of the most incredible fictional buildings in history. Beginning with the mobile building from ANT-MAN AND THE WASP and continuing through places like the wormhole machine from CONTACT, this short film is a sight to behold. While I expected the Tyrell Building from BLADE RUNNER to be the grandest, I was surprised to find that that title actually goes to the the dome that housed the entire set for THE TRUMAN SHOW. You get a real sense of scale and proportion when set against the background of what I believe is New York City. The fact that MetalBallStudios also threw in some real life monuments (the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty) really puts things into perspective as well.

I think the best thing that can be said about this video is that it made me want to actually visit some of these places, fictional though they might be. I can't imagine walking into the Imperial Senate on Corsucant or making my way through Minas Tirith to the Tower of Ecthelion. Makes the Empire State Building kind of tame by comparison. How am I supposed to be content with tokens from that gift shop when I have the factory from MONSTERS INC. to explore?
