Last Updated on August 5, 2021

After largely sitting on a shelf for several years, Johnny Depp's City of Lies will finally be hitting theaters next week and Saban Films have released a new trailer for the crime drama. Based upon Randall Sullivan's LAByrinth, City of Lies finds Johnny Depp starring as Russell Poole, an LAPD detective who has spent decades trying to solve the murder of Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G. The film also stars Forest Whitaker as Jack Jackson, a journalist who joins forces with Poole to search for the truth. Rockmond Dunbar, Neil Brown Jr., Xander Berkeley, Shea Whigham, and Toby Huss also star in City of Lies.

The official synopsis for City of Lies:

Based on the book, LAByrinth, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Randall Sullivan, this compelling crime-thriller follows the investigation into the infamous murder of iconic rap artist Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. Oscar® nominee Johnny Depp stars as determined LAPD detective Russell Poole, who spent nearly 20 years trying to solve the murder, and Oscar® and Primetime Emmy® winner Forest Whitaker as Jack Jackson, a journalist who teams up with Poole in search of the elusive truth. Together they explore why the case remains cold — and why a secret division of the LAPD is seemingly set on keeping it that way.

City of Lies will hit theaters on March 19th, followed by a Digital and On Demand release on April 9, 2021.
