For those itching to snag a piece of horror history, look no further than the new eBay auction for a scene-worn fedora of everyone’s fave Springwood Slasher, Freddy Kreuger!
Yessir, for $10,000 US, you can own one of 2 hats worn during the production of the original A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. This hat in particular wasn’t just worn by Robert Englund alone, but also a ‘stunt Freddy’ borrowed it for the dream sequence involving Freddy and his extra-long arms. Englund probably wore it for the scene where Freddy jumps out from behind the tree to scare Tina. Still, to balance out the coolness factor, the hat has been signed in person by Johnny Depp, Robert Englund, John Saxon, Amanda Weiss, and Heather Langenkamp!
The hat is from the collection of stuntman Don Pike, who worked on the film, so there’s no bootlegs here. While it’s obviously too rich for me, there’s probably someone out there who can afford it. The auction closes January 8th, so if you’re in the market for a piece of horror history, go here.
