Gaspar Noé’s psychedelic nightmare Climax gets an intense new trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Gaspar Noé’s films (ENTER THE VOID, LOVE, IRREVERSIBLE) are often met with divisive reactions, but after his new movie, CLIMAX, debuted at Cannes it was the toast of the town. Those who got a chance to see the psychedelic nightmare praised it as the best work from the filmmaker, and it went on to win the Art Cinema Award at the festival. Now you can see what everyone is talking about by checking out the trippiest trailer yet that finds a dance troupe spiraling into madness and some pretty sick dance numbers.

The film stars Sofia Boutella (KINGSMAN, THE MUMMY) who puts her dance skills on full display with a supporting cast of other professional dancers. The movie received rave reviews out of Cannes, where it was eventually picked up by everyone’s new favorite studio, A24, for a 2018 release.

Heres’ the synopsis:

The troupe begins an all-night celebration that turns nightmarish as the dancers discover they’ve been pounding cups of sangria laced with potent LSD. Tracking their journey from jubilation to chaos and full-fledged anarchy, Noé observes crushes, rivalries, and violence amid a collective psychedelic meltdown.

The initial international teaser that came out in May showed a few glimpses at the crazy imagery, but this trailer is far more shocking and intense, showing how far the insanity is likely to go. This is shaping up to be an unmissable film for movie fans, even if you aren’t the biggest fan of the director’s past work. Come for the dance numbers, stay for the lunacy.

CLIMAX will likely arrive in late 2018.
