New Goosebumps 2 script doesn’t feature Jack Black

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As a big fan of the original GOOSEBUMPS movie starring Jack Black, I am really looking forward to the upcoming sequel. Ironically the last word we brought you on the new film was that Jack Black was all set to return. Today it seems that might – repeat might – not be the case.

Evidently, Sony is looking into several scripts for GOOSEBUMPS 2 aka GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND and the one they dig most (written by Rob Lieber) doesn't feature Jack Black as R.L. Stine.

Again, this doesn't mean Black won't return to the series, it just means that the current top script for GOOSEBUMPS 2 doesn't feature him – at the moment. That could all change, of course.

Anyhow, it looks like GOOSEBUMPS 2 aka GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND is still on track to hit us soon so make sure to let us know what you thought of the first film below or on social media!

GOOSEBUMPS synopsis:

Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah's mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling "Goosebumps" series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it's up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.

GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND is set to hit theaters September 21st, 2018.
