Green Bank: Kumail Nanjiani and Jim Belushi join Josh Ruben’s sci-fi horror film

Kumail Nanjiani, Jim Belushi and others have joined the cast of Green Bank, a sci-fi horror film from Scare Me and Werewolves Within director Josh Ruben. Tatiana Maslany will star, alongside Brittany O’Grady, and Taylor John Smith. According to THR, production on the film began this week.

Green Bank gets its name from a real West Virginia town that’s located within the National Radio Quiet Zone, which is centered between the Green Bank Observatory and the Sugar Grove Station. Radio transmissions are restricted by law in this area “to facilitate scientific research and the gathering of military intelligence.” Cell phone use is restricted in the area, and the use of Wi-Fi routers and microwave ovens is also discouraged.

Scripted by Aaron Horwitz (The Cleansing Hour), Green Bank is set in the town of Green Bank and centers on infant sleep-trainer Sloan (O’Grady), who realizes that the parents of the child she’s caring for are much more than the clueless yuppies they seem to be.

Big Swell Entertainment’s Andy Horwitz is producing the film.

Ruben provided the following statement: “In a marketplace where original, horror-thrillers slay at the box office, we need no further proof that audiences want to have fun at the movies again. That’s the magic word. Fun. Horror is the bulletproof genre, and Green Bank has the full package — it’s smart, scary and wickedly funny.

Protagonist Pictures’ CEO Dave Bishop added: “Josh has envisioned a perfectly paced roller coaster of a horror that expertly delivers on its promise to jolt, thrill, and terrify audiences, all while keeping them grinning from ear to ear. Green Bank is wall-to-wall, fright-filled fun led by a fiercely talented cast hailing from beloved franchises. This fresh, subversive take on the genre, which continues to dominate at the box-office, is the perfect offering for our partners.

I enjoyed both of Ruben’s previous movies, so I look forward to seeing what he does with Green Bank. Are you interested in Green Bank? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
