I hope you’ve recovered from that Indiana Jones teaser because we’ve got another highly anticipated trailer for you! Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage at CCXP22 in São Paulo, Brazil and presented the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which will be the last adventure for James Gunn’s beloved band of galactic misfits.
The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel finds Peter Quill still reeling from the loss of Gamora, but he must rally his team around him to defend the universe and protect one of their own for a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them. The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 trailer gives us more of what we loved in the first two movies, but James Gunn has teased that it’s “a much bigger movie than the other two movies, and it’s a much more emotional movie than the other two movies. And it’s a longer movie than the other two movies — it’s bigger in every way.” Although I’m unsure exactly how to feel about Swole Groot, I’m pretty sure that Baby Rocket will break some damn hearts.
With things likely to get heavy with this last adventure, the recent release of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special serves as a lovely, light-hearted appetizer. Plus, it got a little of the heavy lifting out of the way by setting up a few elements that will come to play in the upcoming movie.
