SPOILERS for the previous five episodes of Hawkeye. Consider yourself warned. With WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If…?, Marvel has shown that they can dominate the small screen just as well as the silver screen. Hawkeye is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+, and it’s actually been my favourite so far, which I certainly didn’t expect. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Hawkeye finds Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) teaming up with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in order to confront enemies from his past. The Hawkeye finale is set to stream on Disney+ tomorrow and Marvel has revealed what you’ll need to watch to ensure that you’re caught up.
Before the Hawkeye finale, Marvel suggests that you watch Thor, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow, and the first five episodes of Hawkeye (naturally). I’ll admit that I was momentarily confused why Thor was included until I remembered that Hawkeye was actually introduced in that movie. Where does the time go?
Given that the penultimate episode of Hawkeye also (re)introduced Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, it might be a good idea to add Netflix’s Daredevil series to that list as well. Although we still don’t know whether this Kingpin is the same found in the Netflix series or if his origin has been changed. I’d imagine we might get some answers with the Hawkeye finale tomorrow. While some are looking at this series as Clint Barton’s swan song, producer Trinh Tran has said that Hawkeye has a future in the MCU beyond the series.
There are always new stories to be told, especially with Clint Barton. There is so much more to explore. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but it’s amazing to work with Jeremy. He loves his character, He’s the only person who really knows who Clint Barton is. I think there are possibilities. We’ll see.
