Ana Lily Amirpour's A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT has earned some serious buzz since its Sundance debut last year, and now the celebrated director is partnering with Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Pictures to produce the filmmaker’s follow-up, the "dystopian love story" THE BAD BATCH. But this isn't your typical love story by a long shot. Read on.

Amirpour has described the Southern-set and dystopian tale THE BAD BATCH as...

...a post-apocalyptic cannibal love story set in a Texas wasteland.

The director also shared more info on the story with Filmmaker Magazine, stating that...

“A muscled cannibal breaks the rule ‘don’t play with your food. It’s Road Warrior meets Pretty in Pink with a dope soundtrack.”

As if that doesn't sound cool enough, Amirpour elaborates a bit with Filmlinc, sharing...

There's going to be muscle men and amputees set against a desert backdrop. I want to shoot anamorphic color and have a look and feel of the ’80s and ’90s with an eclectic soundtrack that's part techno, part Western, and part ’90s pop. It's my Mad Max meets Gummo. It's going to be really weird and romantic and also very violent.

Development on THE BAD BATCH is underway, but a start date hasn't yet been set. Annapurna's Megan Ellison is rather excited about the project, though, sending out this tweet yesterday:
