Alexandre Aja alligator movie Crawl, produced by Sam Raimi, moves to July

The Maze Runner Kaya Scodelario

It was only back in mid-January that Paramount Pictures announced they would be releasing the "nature run amok" horror film CRAWL on August 23rd of this year… but now the studio has already changed their mind and shifted its release date. This works out for genre fans, because CRAWL has been moved forward a month.

The film is now set to reach theatres on July 12th.

Directed by Alexandre Aja from a screenplay by Shawn Rasmussen and Michael Rasmussen, CRAWL stars Kaya Scodelario (pictured above in THE MAZE RUNNER) and Barry Pepper in the story of

a young woman who, while struggling to save her father during a Category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped inside a flooding house and fighting for her life against Florida's most savage and feared predators.

Those predators being alligators.

If you like the sound of that and are looking forward to CRAWL (as I am), I recommend seeking out a 2010 movie called BURNING BRIGHT. It's basically the same story, but with a tiger instead of alligators.

CRAWL was produced by Sam Raimi and Craig Flores.

Aja, Raimi, alligators. I'll be there for this in July.
