Bait 3D is getting a sequel! What’s next for the supermarket sharks?

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

BAIT 3D was released here in the states a couple of weeks ago, to very little fanfare. I personally had hoped to experience much more fun during this sharks-in-a-supermarket flick, but it has played well for some. So well, in fact, that it appears an encore is warranted.

Twitchfilm.net is reporting that BAIT’s producers, Arclight Films, have announced a sequel. No details are provided, so it’s anyone’s guess what kind of story it may have. (Will another tsunami batter Australia? Maybe this time sharks will invade a shopping mall?)

Twitch claims that the sequel has been put into motion thanks to a healthy international run from BAIT, even as its results in Australia have been middling. No word if director Kimble Rendall or writer Russell Mulcahy will be back.

The first BAIT tells the story of a group of survivors in a sleepy beach town who suddenly find themselves trapped inside a submerged supermarket, following a freak tsunami.
As they try to escape to safety, they soon discover that there is a predator among them more deadly than the threat of drowning—vicious great white sharks lurking in the water, hungry for fresh meat. As the bloodthirsty sharks begin to pick the survivors off one by one, the group realizes that they must work together to find a way out without being eaten alive.
