Bruce Campbell still wants to make an Expendables of Horror movie

A while back Bruce Campbell teased a little idea he had for a movie that would be in the same vein as THE EXPENDABLES, only with horror icons. In it, Campbell would team up alongside other horror vets to fight a single threat. The plan was for it to act as a sequel to 2008’s MY NAME IS BRUCE, a film in which he essentially plays himself. The sequel, titled BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN, is an idea Campbell has been kicking around for a long time now, and today we learned that he’s still mulling over the idea.

MovieWeb recently caught up to Campbell who shared some details on his ‘EXPENDABLES’ of horror film, and while he doesn't mention whether the BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN sequel idea is still in play or not, he does say that he's still trying to iron out a script.

"Yeah! Never say never. I have a script that I'm working on that would pretty much be that. It's not ready to share at this point. It's in the pipeline I guess you could say. I've always wanted to do the Expendables of Horror type movie. Because I always run into all my horror buddies at conventions. It would be fun to do a movie that pretty much has all of them in it."

It’s such a great idea and it sounds like something Campbell really hopes to get off the ground someday, and I don’t blame him. Seeing some of the greatest horror icons in a single film together would be total madness. For now, though, with Campbell hard at work on Ash vs. Evil Dead, it could be a while before this one ever sees the light of day. After being asked if he would be up for the TV version of the Expendables that Sylvester Stallone is producing, he said:

"If I wasn't doing Ash vs Evil Dead for Starz this year, I could consider it. You know, the Expendables seems like it's fun. I haven't seen the movies, but…conceptually I like that idea. There's a lot of ways you could go with it. That's a great idea for a TV show."

Ash vs. Evil Dead will premiere on Starz as 10 half-hour episodes, which is expected to air in late 2015.
