Cool Horror Gear: Black Bottle’s Cerealiously Count Chocula beer

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

The Halloween season is my favorite time of year, and one thing that always helps me celebrate the joyous occasion is the line of "Monster Cereals" that are released annually by General Mills: Franken Berry, Boo-Berry, Count Chocula, and sometimes Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy.

Last year, the Fort Collins, Colorado-based Black Bottle Brewery wiped out two local grocery stores' supply of Count Chocula for the creation of a beer called Cerealiously Count Chocula, a beer infused with the cereal's chocolate and marshmallow goodness. Monster Cereals are a big deal, so a shortage of one of them won't go unnoticed. The missing Count Chocula caused quite a stir in the Fort Collins area, and word of the incident reached General Mills.

Showing how cool they are, this year General Mills is directly supplying Black Bottle Brewery with the boxes of cereal they'll need for a new batch of Count Chocula brew, enabling the people of Fort Collins to get some cereal off the shelves for themselves while others are also enjoying Cerealiously Count Chocula.

Cerealiously Count Chocula will be on tap at the Black Bottle Brewery as of August 25th. The company then intends to take the brew to the Great American Beer Festival in October, and to have it available in bottles in time for Halloween.

Unfortunately, the beer will only be available in Colorado, but if you'd like to try to snag some it might be a good idea to keep an eye on the brewery's website.
