Dario Argento returns to directing with new TV series Longinus

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Looks like SUSPIRIA and DEEP RED filmmaker Dario Argento is returning to directing! Today we got word that Argento will helm a TV series titled LONGINUS, which is the name of the Roman soldier who pierced crucified Jesus' side to make sure he was dead. Interesting… The show will lead viewers inside Argento's “obscure and terrifying” imagination and will fittingly involve "mysterious murders, esoteric elements, and ancient enigmas."

It is further described as

An auteur series for the international market, which will be suspended between the real and the supernatural and will be set between the French Alps of Grenoble and the Siena of the Palio.

Dario Argento's LONGINUS is being co-produced by new Italian shingle BIM Production and Publispei. That's all we know at this point in time but make sure to keep checking back with us here at AITH and we will pass along further info as we hear it. Until then, how excited are you for a Dario Argento TV series? Let us know below! Meanwhile, Argento's last directing effort was DRACULA 3D starring Asia Argento and Rutger Hauer.

It centered on

Count Dracula (Thomas Kretschmann) who wants to sink his fangs into Mina Harker (Marta Gastini), who resembles his late wife.

Argento directed the film from a script he wrote with Enrique Cerezo, Stefano Piani, and Antonio Tentori based on Dracula by Bram Stoker. Enrique Cerezo, Roberto Di Girolamo, Sergio Gobbi, and Franco and Giovanni Paolucci produced. Thomas Kretschmann starred as Dracula along with Marta Gastini, Asia Argento, Unax Ugalde, Miriam Giovanelli, and Rutger Hauer. It was released back on November 27, 2013. Buy it on Blu-ray HERE.
