Filming will start on Jeremy Saulnier’s Hold the Dark next month

There were six years between director Jeremy Saulnier's feature debut MURDER PARTY and his second feature BLUE RUIN, but he's really on a roll now. BLUE RUIN was followed by GREEN ROOM, and filming is set to begin next month on Saulnier's fourth movie, HOLD THE DARK.

First announced back in September of 2015, HOLD THE DARK is based on a novel by William Giraldi. The story is set in

Alaska, where nature writer Russell Core is summoned to track a pack of wolves that are suspected of killing three children. He is hired by the parents of a six-year-old boy believed to have been killed by the wolves. After the mother disappears, the boy’s father returns from the Iraq War intent on wreaking havoc.

A Netflix production, HOLD THE DARK will begin filming on February 27th in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where the Kananaskis Country park system will be standing in for Alaska. The Alberta shooting schedule extends into mid-April, and there will also be a few days of filming in Morocco.

I haven't read Giraldi's novel, but the plot description is quite intriguing. Even if it wasn't so interesting, I would still be on board to see this movie simply because Saulnier is at the helm. I'll watch anything he makes.
