Hilary Duff stars in The Haunting of Sharon Tate

Sharon Tate

Here's a project that strikes me as being in poor taste. According to the fans who run Hilary Duff News, actress Hilary Duff has taken on her first horror movie role in THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE, in which she will be playing the late actress named in the title (and pictured above). This seems to be confirmed by a pair of pictures, one in which Duff is wearing a fake pregnant belly and a nightgown like the one Tate had on when she murdered by members of Manson Family. In the other, Duff is standing in a room similar to one Tate died in.

According to the report, THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE was written by Daniel Farrands, writer of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS and producer of THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT and AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING. The story is apparently based on the theory that

the ghost of Sharon Tate haunts the Oman House.

The Oman House isn't the place where Tate was killed, that house was demolished in the '90s. The Oman place is actually on the neighboring plot, and the owner believes the spirit of Tate is contained in the house because of "the geomagnetic energy surrounding it."

I'm not too keen on the idea of Tate's tragic murder being exploited for a haunted house movie, but since it's happening here's hoping that THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE is at least a good haunted house movie.
