Horror @ the Box Office: Jan 6-8 – The Devil Inside manages a huge opening despite horrible reviews

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Happy Monday folks! We’re back again with another instalment of Box Office numbers. And this week’s results might come as a huge surprise as well, so brace yourselves.

THE DEVIL INSIDE despite the horrible reviews and reports of audiences booing the film, made it to number one and scored one of the highest January openings ever! How in the world did that happen? Well I don’t know if the general audience takes reviews into consideration or perhaps people were curious to see if it was ‘that’ bad? Who knows but with the genre on top, that’s a good thing and I am sure Paramount are happy with the out come.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL and SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS were still in the Top 5 and taking in some money. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO managed to move up a place from last week, which is also good news. The rest of the Box Office is much the same as last week and no real surprises.

Next week sees the releases of CONTRABAND, JOYFUL NOISE, THE IRON LADY (wider), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (3D re-release), ALBATROSS (limited), WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (wider), LOOSIES and THE DIVIDE. With more films openings we should see a bit more of a shake up at the Box Office.
