Hulu dumps Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Joe Hill’s Locke & Key?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A TV show based on Joe Hill's LOCKE & KEY graphic novel series seems to be all but cursed at this point as the series was made into a pilot back in the day, only to be dropped off the face of the planet.

And today it looks as if the same fate may await Hulu and IT-director Andy Muschietti's new adaptation as recently SUPER MARIO BROS. & BROKEN ARROW star Samantha Mathis (see above) sat down for a chat with Cultured Vultures and was asked what projects she was currently working on.

And that's when Mathis dropped the bombshell.

Samantha Mathis:

I did a pilot for Hulu called Locke and Key but it didn’t get picked up by Hulu. It’s getting shopped around to Amazon and Netflix and Apple and everyone right now. Who knows, maybe that will end up someplace.

I'm going to go ahead and file this under rumor for the time being as I'm not even 100% sure that Mathis was cast in the new pilot. I'm not calling her a liar, but all the same, let's just agree to wait and see on this one before freaking the f*ck out.

What do you think of Andy Muschietti's take on Joe Hill's LOCK & KEY (possibly) being dumped by Hulu? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or on social media!

Synopsis:

A trio of siblings moves to their ancestral home in Maine with their mother Nina only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

The new pilot stars Frances O'Connor, Danny Glover, Jack Mulhern, Jackson Robert Scott, Megan Charpentier, Owen Teague, and Nate Corddry. Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) acts as showrunner. It will (hopefully) air on Hulu in 2018.
