Sitges Guillermo del Toro

The Sitges Film Festival in Spain is perhaps the most prestigious celebrations of fantasy and horror filmmaking worldwide, and in 2017 they will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in style. They'll be extending their program by a full day in a grand tribute to the genre led by patron Guillermo del Toro.

The festival will run from October 5th to 15th, and the entire affair will be themed after one of the most iconic figures in the genre: Dracula. In addition to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola's beautiful and kooky BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, they are developing a program that will allow audiences to "relive some of the most magical moments in the Festival’s history."

In conjunction with the Festival, the Catalonian Film Library will be hosting a preamble film series between June and September, and putting together an exhibit starting in September. Not all the details have been nailed down yet, but this is sure to be the genre event of the entire year, so if you're able to make it, you should mark your calendars right the hell now.
