Jason Blum: Shyamalan’s Glass is a very different kind of superhero movie

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

M. Night Shyamalan is known for switching up his genres with each outing. Sure his flicks tend to stay within the realm of horror-thriller but often times his films tend to take on another genre at the same time making for interesting mash-ups, to say the least.

The same, no doubt, will be true with GLASS as it seems that with his upcoming UNBREAKABLE/SPLIT sequel he'll be going for a full-on superhero movie. At least that's what Jason Blum says.

Jason Blum on GLASS:

Of course, it’s a kind of superhero movie, for sure. I do consider it that, yeah. It’s very different. I would say it’s not a Marvel movie, but a superhero movie.

Now you could say that the original UNBREAKABLE was a superhero movie, and I would totally agree with you. That said, with the origin stories out of the way and the (relatively) epic way SPLIT ended, I'm thinking GLASS may very well be the battle royale comic-book flick we've been waiting for since credits rolled on UNBREAKABLE back in 2000.

Time will tell just how much of a superhero M. Night Shyamalan's GLASS will be, but until we know for sure come opening day, at least we can rest easy knowing this will not be another Marvel movie. Not that there's anything wrong with Marvel…
