Joseph Kahn’s horror-comedy Detention given spring release date by MGM

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

The horror-comedy DETENTION, starring Dane Cook and Josh Hutcherson, has finally scored itself a release date. The Joseph Kahn-directed flick (read our review from Fantasia Fest HERE) will be dropped into theaters on APRIL 6th by Samuel Goldwyn. Hard to believe that a movie from the director of TORQUE and starring Dane Cook would get any kind of release, but indeed the film has received positive buzz and seems like a fun time.

DETENTION follows the local students of Grizzly Lake as they survive their final year of high school. Bringing even more angst to student life, a slasher killer has chosen their high school as his new home of slaughter. It becomes a race against time to stop the killer, which will in turn save the world – if only they can get out of detention.

In addition to Josh Hutcherson and Dane Cook, DETENTION stars Shanley Caswell, Spencer Locke, and Carrie Wiita (pictured below).
