Friday the 13th: The Game

There was supposed to be a new FRIDAY THE 13TH movie in production right now, one that would have given slasher Jason Voorhees a whole new batch of victims to cut his way through on the big screen, but Paramount Pictures cancelled the project just six weeks out from filming.

The cancellation of the film project saving the lives of those lucky victims-to-be is no consolation to the camp counselors featured in Friday the 13th: The Game, which is still on track to be released later this year. As players put them through the motions in both multiplayer and single player options, these counselors are going to have to face Jason again and again.

As the game inches ever closer to release, the folks behind it have chosen to give us an introduction of sorts to the counselors that make up the "cast" of the game, sharing each character's stats screen. These ten counselors, who you can get a look at below, certainly seem worthy of dying at the hands of our hockey masked icon.

Friday the 13th: The Game was made with the cooperation of Sean S. Cunningham, director of the original FRIDAY THE 13TH. Series composer Harry Manfredini provided the score, Tom Savini designed some kills and a special version of Jason, and Kane Hodder did the motion capture performance to bring the game's Jason to life. Thom Mathews reprises his JASON LIVES: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI role of Tommy Jarvis in the game, and that film's writer/director Tom McLoughlin wrote "The Pamela Voorhees Tapes", audio recordings that players will be able to collect during a match and listen to later in the menu system.
