New Resident Evil: Retribution poster brings the big guns

Man, I’m going to hate myself for that cheesy headline later. Paul W.S. Anderson’s RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION is a hype train that just won’t stop. The latest car in the line comes in the form of another one-sheet, this time with the lovely Mrs. Jovovich dolled up in black leather and sporting automatic weapons.

So yeah, this one’s pretty much the same as all the others we’ve seen. I’d complain about a lack of variety, but there’s something so fetishistic about the RESIDENT EVIL franchise's marketing that appeals to me. It’s the tight fitting outfits, the over the top gunplay, the explosions, the sexuality. The ads highlight how Paul W.S. Anderson handles these elements with an auteur’s grasp. If anything, he turns the baser sensibilities of RESIDENT EVIL films into a genuine art form that elevates them beyond their lack of intellect. Also, Milla Jovovich gets naked in pretty much all of them, which is great.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION hits theaters September 14th. It stars Jovovich along with along with Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Oded Fehr and Michelle Rodriguez. Bask in the sexy action with the synopsis and new poster, below.

The Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race's last and only hope, Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Extra Tidbit: Paul W.S. Anderson get a project going with Paul Thomas Anderson and Wes Anderson. That's a movie I'd like to see.
