Original Michael Myers Nick Castle has one scene in Halloween Kills

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It was very cool of director David Gordon Green and Blumhouse Productions to invite Nick Castle, the man who played Michael Myers in the original HALLOWEEN back in 1978, to make an appearance in their 2018 sequel, which also happened to be titled HALLOWEEN. (You can watch the original film HERE and the 2018 film HERE.) Two scenes were filmed with Castle: for one, he reprised the role of the Michael Myers in the moment where Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) sees him wearing his mask for the first time in 40 years, and for the other he was a Haddonfield local seen looking at the corpse of a dog Myers killed. The dog scene was deleted from the finished film – and even though Castle was invited back again for the upcoming sequel HALLOWEEN KILLS, he recently expressed concern that he might be cut out of the new film completely.

Castle was the guest on an episode of the The Thing With Two Heads podcast, and during the conversation he mentioned that he only appears in one scene of HALLOWEEN KILLS.

I won't say what it is, but we'll see, it's an interesting one. Because it's definitely something I can imagine being cut out, which I hope is not gonna happen."

Thankfully, The Thing With Two Heads is co-hosted by HALLOWEEN 2018 and HALLOWEEN KILLS effects artist Christopher Nelson, who was quickly able to assure Castle that his scene is "in there".

In addition to his on screen appearances, Castle also provides the sound of Myers' breathing in these new films. However, Nelson said that the breathing sound effect was not required for his HALLOWEEN KILLS moment, which is an interesting tease.

There wasn't room for the breathing. You wouldn't need the breathing at that scene."

It's going to be a while before we'll have a chance to see Castle's HALLOWEEN KILLS cameo. Originally scheduled to reach theatres this October, the film was recently pushed back to October 15th, 2021, due to the pandemic.

Castle is joined in the cast by Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, Dylan Arnold as Allyson's boyfriend / Lonnie's son Cameron, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion, Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett, Jibrail Nantambu as scene stealer Julian, child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as a character named Christy, and James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers.

Green wrote the HALLOWEEN KILLS screenplay with Danny McBride and Scott Teems. Malek Akkad produced with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside Couper Samuelson and John Carpenter. Carpenter has composed the score for HALLOWEEN KILLS.
