Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2 votes Sela Ward for President!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Casting continues on INDEPENDENCE DAY 2, the Roland Emmerich-helmed sequel to the 1996 box office smash. Deadline reports Sela Ward has been voted in as the President of the United States in the film, which is just revving up production in New Mexico. Emmerich and Ward collaborated over a decade ago on THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, and she was recently seen in GONE GIRL and CSI: NY.

Ward joins Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, Vivica Fox, Judd Hirsch, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King and Maika Monroe in the film, which is coming out June 24, 2016.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 was written by Emmerich, producer Dean Devlin, Carter Blanchard, James A Woods and Nicolas Wright. That’s a lot of chefs in the kitchen!
