Shout! Factory snatches up Korean monster movie Sector 7 for US distribution!

A little over a year ago was the first time we heard about the Korean monster movie SECTOR 7. That’s when this schmuck was sold on this one. So you can imagine how frustrating it’s been to see countless updates on this creature feature in the past year yet no inklings of a US DVD release. I’m sure I’m not the only one dieing to check this one out either… If you’re in the same boat as I am then you’ll be stoked to hear today’s news!

While a date hasn’t been set just yet, we did get word today that Shout! Factory has made a deal with CJ E&M to distribute SECTOR 7 here in the US! That’s some great news, right?! Hopefully a release date is soon to follow this announcement.

Hae-jun is working as a marine equipment manager on an old oil prospecting ship stationed at Sector 7, the mining area in the vast open sea located off the southern tip of Jeju Island. One day, a new recruit sinks to the bottom of the sea. Evidence suggests that it was not an accident as other crew members begin to turn up dead. The few survivors soon discover an underwater creature. This viral monster infiltrated the ship through the drilling pipe and has been feeding on crew to survive. As Hae-jun and her crew members lose all communications to the outside world, their frantic fights for their lives begin…

Coming from director Kim Ji-Hoon, SECTOR 7 stars Ha Ji-won (below), Ahn Seong-gi, Lee Han-wee, Park Cheol-min, Oh Ji-ho, Song Sae-byeok and Cha Ye-ryeon. You can bet we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for a release date for this little diddy so be sure to check back soon for that!
