Teaser: Blumhouse wishes you a Happy Death Day

Happy Death Day Christopher Landon Jessica Rothe

It took ten years for the "horror GROUNDHOG DAY" project HALF TO DEATH to make it through development hell, and now that it has finally been made it won't be coming out as HALF TO DEATH. Universal and Blumhouse Productions have revealed that the title has been changed to HAPPY DEATH DAY. Not a great title, but it does have sort of a goofy, old school charm to it. It sounds like something that would have been on video store shelves in the 1980s.

The title announcement was accompanied by the release of a teaser of sorts, which can be seen below. This is one of those "trailers released to let you know the trailer is coming", though, so don't expect too much from it. The full HAPPY DEATH DAY trailer will be released online tomorrow.

Directed by Christopher Landon (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES, SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE) from a script he wrote with comic book legend Scott Lobdell, HAPPY DEATH DAY centers on

a college student who relives the day of her slaying until she discovers her killer’s identity.

Jessica Rothe stars and is joined in the cast by Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken, and Rachel Matthews.

When the movie was going to be made in 2007, Megan Fox had been attached to star in it.

HAPPY DEATH DAY is scheduled to reach theatres on Friday, October 13th.
