The Hunger Games prompts The CW to consider bringing Battle Royale to the small screen?!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

I’m not kidding people. The CW are toying with the idea of a TV series based on the classic genre flick BATTLE ROYALE. The CW… really? Man I don’t like the sound of this…

If you recall there were plans to straight up remake BATTLE ROYALE for the big screen. That has since stalled obviously but now CW are thinking of something a bit different… According to the LA Times, THE HUNGER GAMES’ success has prompted The CW to look into talks with the project’s Hollywood representatives about the possibility of turning the property into an English-language show. Now the talks were preliminary but if things were to move forward the new series would be based on Koushun Takami’s original novel.

In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary “Battle Royale” act.

While the LA Times tried to dig a bit further everyone was pretty hush-hush about the whole thing.

So what do you guys think? You down for The CW bringing BATTLE ROYALE to the small screen or are you with me in thinking this might end up being as horrific as it sounds? Spit some bullets below and let us know as we wait for more details regarding this little diddy.
